The Cohutta Wilderness is the ultimate destination for the outdoor enthusiast and ‘Take A Hike’ is one of its loveliest lodgings, as well as the hiker and mountain bikers’ dream.  Beautifully situated on Mt. Pisgah, this cabin overlooks absolutely fantastic mountain views.  It has three massive decks from which to enjoy them and from where you’ll be inspired to plan the many and nearby open-air activities that surround you. 

‘Take a hike’ starting at the cabin’s property where you can pick from its delicious blueberry and blackberry bushes for snacking along your easy hike to a waterfall, cave or to Colonel Magnum’s memorial.  A quick, 10 minute drive will get you to major hiking trailheads in the Cohutta Wilderness including Dally Gap, Jacks River, Benton Mackaye and Hemptop.  Biking trails for the fittest or the novice abound at the mountain base.  Just 20 minutes from the cabin, a water world of adventure awaits from white water river rafting on the Ocoee, to boating on Lake Blue Ridge, to trout fishing in Fighting Town Creek.  On your way back to the cabin, swing by Mercier’s Orchards for some of the greatest locally-grown fruit and homemade goodies.  Like all of the amenities that the Take a Hike cabin offers, directions to all of these locations are thoroughly provided.

After a full day out, there’s nothing more rewarding than your downtime at this home.  Gather in the family room which features a wall of two-story windows, a stacked stone gas fireplace, and patio doors to the wrap around deck.  Adjoining the family room is a spacious kitchen with all the comforts of home. Compare your day’s adventures at the large 8-person dining table and continue vibrant conversation out on the many rockers or picnic table on the deck.  As others hang back at the gorgeous outdoor wood burning fireplace on the main deck, you and your friends can step down into the property for a leisurely game of horseshoes.  Perhaps when you’re done, everyone will gather to build a great fire in the fire pit for a good old fashioned marshmallow roast or to get the 8-person hot tub started for some late night pampering.
   
This home has great sleeping accommodations for up to 9 people. It is a perfect set up for two families vacationing together or a good-sized group. The Master suite has a king size bed, private deck with long range mountain view, private bath with Jacuzzi tub and shower. Located on the first floor is another spacious bedroom with a king size bed and patio doors to let in the mountain breeze as well as a queen size sleeper sofa in the family room. Each bedroom has a TV/DVD player.  The lower level of this cabin has an oversized bedroom with 3 single beds and a Playstation - perfect for a kid’s camp out! This lower level also features a game room with air hockey, a pool table, TV/DVD as well as a full bath.
