July in North Georgia calls for sunshine, lake days, and patriotic fun all month long! This month you can look forward to all kinds of America 250 celebrations at the start of the month, live music, laser shows, green bean festivals, and so much more! See what’s in store for you this July in the Blue Ridge Mountains. 

Artist in Residence: Jimiyo Benedict

July 1st-July 30th

Location: Blue Ridge Arts Association

Join us in celebrating the beauty of art at the Art Center for sculpturer, Jimiyo Benedict. Jimi’s sculptures transform common packaging materials into stylized animal forms that sit between craft, design, and folk sculpture. Built through cutting, layering, and shaping corrugated cardboard and other paper-based materials, the work emphasizes rhythm, surface pattern, and the structural potential of an everyday medium. The opening reception will take place on June 6th at 5pm and Jimiyo's works will be on display through August 30th. 


The Shape of Clay Artisan Pottery Exhibition

July 1st-July 30th

Location: Blue Ridge Arts Association

Come on out to the Art Center for “The Shape of Clay” which promotes the talent and design of two- and three-dimensional clay artists. These artists combine technical skill, imagination, and craftsmanship to produce works that range from decorative wall pieces and tiles to functional pottery and sculptural forms. The opening reception will take place on June 6th at 5pm and "The Shape of Clay" exhibit will be on display through August 30th.

The Fine Art Photography of David Goodspeed

Come experience the beautiful fine art photography of David Goodspeed at this pop-up exhibit at the Art Center! Goodspeed's art highlights the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge region, capturing the landscape with an artist’s eye and an architect’s attention to form, light, and atmosphere. His work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and art festivals throughout the Southeast, earning recognition and awards along the way. David Goodspeed's Fine Art Photography exhibit will be on display from July 2nd-September 5th. 


First Fridays at Vertigo Pinball

Stars, Stripes & Hidden Gems Adventure Tours

July 3rd

Location: All Around Blue Ridge


Hop aboard the Vintage Adventures Coach and spend the day discovering unique antique stores, thrift shops, boutiques, and hidden gems throughout Blue Ridge. And in honor of the holiday weekend the tour will also include red, white & blue decor, festive treats, and plenty of American fun! This fun treasure hunting tour is a great way to explore the town and find some rare gems as well!


Copper Basin Fireworks

July 3rd 

Location: Downtown McCaysville & Copperhill

Food, fun, and fireworks await you at the Copper Basin Fireworks show. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole family to join in the fun! The fireworks start at promptly 9:30pm and go till around 10:30pm. You can see the fireworks from anywhere downtown. Come on out for a special night to celebrate America’s birthday!


Firecracker Special

July 3rd

Location: Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

A great way to view the fireworks is by train, on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway "Firecracker Special". Celebrate the birth of our great nation on Friday, July 3rd for their Firework Special train. The train will depart Blue Ridge at 7pm to enjoy the great Copper Basin Fireworks display just after dark and then return to Blue Ridge by 11pm. Bring your lawn chair and sit outside the train to view the fireworks!  


The Annual Great American Rodeo

July 3rd-July 4th

Location: Copperhill, TN

Head over the state line for some rodeo fun! The Annual Great American Rodeo will be on the old baseball fields by the river in Copperhill, TN on July 4th & 5th. There will be exciting rodeo events, delicious food vendors, a bounce house, a kids calf scramble, and lots of family fun!

Lake Blue Ridge Fireworks 

July 4th 

Location: Lake Blue Ridge Dam

Join us at Lake Blue Ridge for the annual fireworks show! The fireworks start at 9:30pm and last till about 10:00pm. The best places to view the show are from the Morganton Point Recreation Area, from a boat in Lake Blue Ridge near the Lake Blue Ridge Dam, from the Lake Blue Ridge Marina, or from the Lake Blue Ridge Dam. It’s sure to be a great and festive night!


4th of July Lake Chatuge Boat Parade 

July 4th 

Location: Lake Chatuge; Starting Point - Sunset Bay Cove (Behind Young Harris Watersports)

Come out for the 4th of July Lake Chatuge Boat Parade in Hiawassee! Interested in participating? All boats line up in the Sunset Bay Cove for the parade beginning at 10:30am. The boats will parade past the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds where the judges will be positioned. Come on by and find a good spot to watch the patriotic boats go by!


Ellijay 4th of July Festivities

Location: Downtown Ellijay 

All the fun kicks off in Downtown Ellijay at 3pm with local vendors and kids activities, and a 4th of July Parade at 7pm featuring decorated floats, community groups, and plenty of red, white, and blue. And following the parade there will be fireworks show that will light up the night sky!


Vogel State Park's 4th of July Celebration

Start your 4th of July celebrations early with fun and games for the whole family! The day will start with a flag raising ceremony to honor our Veterans, then will be followed by a bike parade, sand castle contest, field games, a 4th of July concert and so much more. Lake Nottely Boat Parade

Head on over to the Lake Nottely Marina in Blairsville for their annual Independence Day Boat Parade. Have a boat? Join in the lineup starting at 10:30am. There’s no charge to enter your boat and you may decorate it however you’d like! Then at 11:30am the boats will pass by and all can enjoy in the beautiful parade!

Head over to Meeks Park in Blairsville for even more fireworks, shooting off from 9:30pm-10pm! But come early starting at 7:30pm for food trucks, bounce houses, kickball, cornhole, and more. Come on out for a fun night!

Then the Vintage Vixens will perform from 6:30pm-9pm and the firework show will start at 9:45pm. It’s a family-friendly event and there’s plenty of room for everyone!

Americana music is coming to Blue Ridge when Michelle Malone takes the stage at Blue Ridge Community Theater. Malone has been a mainstay of American roots music for more than 30 years, building her community onstage and off, mixing roadhouse rock & roll with blues, folk, and country-soul. It's a sound that's taken the award-winning songwriter around the world, but it's inspired by Malone's home in the South, too. After more than a dozen studio albums, she continues flying a flag for Georgia — a state with its own ever-evolving sound Don’t miss this night of music at Blue Ridge Community Theater for their Live Music is Better series! Michelle Malone will take the stage at 7pm on July 11th and tickets are $37.10 for this awesome show! 


Winery Tour

July 11th-July 25th

Location: Crane Creek Vineyards

Learn all about the wine making process with this behind-the-scenes experience! Take a tour of the beautiful Crane Creek Vineyards and experience what goes into making a bottle of Crane Creek wine! You can take a Winery Tour on Saturdays at 2pm, April-November. The cost is $40 per person.


Yoga by the River

Mama Won't Fly follows a family on a cross-country adventure filled with quirky characters, outrageous mishaps, and heartfelt revelations. Poured for a Purpose: Habitat at Roo Mountain

Walk the Line 5K

July 18th

Location: Riverwalk Shops

Walk the Line 5K is America’s only 5K that crosses two states! Starting at 6:30pm you’ll run through the charming twin cities of Copperhill,TN and McCaysville, GA, pass by the Toccoa River, and cross the steel bridge! Before and after the run stay for food, drinks, and music at the Riverwalk Shops.


A1A - The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show

July 18th 

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Do you love the music of Jimmy Buffett and the joys of summer? Then come on out for Georgia Mountain Fairground's Summer Fun-draiser and concert at 6pm on July 18th! On top of the amazing concert from, A1A - The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show, there will also be food trucks, drinks, a silent auction, and lots of fun! Proceeds will benefit The Paris Business Center Restoration in Downtown Hiawassee.


Butternut Creek Art Festival 

July 18th-July 19th

This two-day art festival is one of the finest in the Southeast! You’ll see craftsmen specializing in basketry, fine art, fabric art, decorative painting, photography, pottery, and so much more! The event runs Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm & admission is free!

Get ready for family friendly fun at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds! Starting at 5pm on July 25th there will be craft vendors, food trucks, live music, kid's activities, and much more at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Then at 9:45pm you’ll be treated to a one-of-a-kind laser light show! Tickets are $10 a person and children 12 & under are free!


Green Bean Festival

Location: Downtown Blairsville

The Green Bean Festival is back and better than ever in Downtown Blairsville! This fun filled festival celebrates summer, small town life, and of course green beans! All weekend long there will be local arts & crafts vendors, delicious food, specialty drinks and sweet treats, fresh local produce and green beans, live music and entertainment, demonstrations & family-friendly activities, and so much more! Join us in the Downtown Blairsville Square on Saturday & Sunday from 10am-4pm for all the fun! Admission is FREE!


Ridge Jam-Bluegrass Festival

July 31st

Location: Blue Ridge Farmers Market

Bluegrass is coming to Blue Ridge at the 3rd Annual Ridge Jam! This two-day festival will bring in award winning bluegrass bands, food trucks, vendors, camping, jamming and more! Plus, this great event serves as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and last year raised thousands of dollars for the charity. All the fun runs July 31st & August 1st at the Blue Ridge Farmers Market.
