Fall is here in the mountains! October is the month for fall festivals and events in the area. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather, admire the stunning fall foliage, and take in some amazing fall festivals. Check out our October newsletter to see what’s in store for you this month in the mountains.


Photography National Juried Show

October 1st-October 18th

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association

Come on out to the Art Center August 30th thru October 18th to see beautiful digital media from local artists. Enjoy photography or videography? Submit your work and see if you can win Best in Show! Artists and art lovers alike are welcome!


Acoustic Sunset Series

October 2nd-October 9th

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Head to the beautiful Hamilton Gardens in Hiawassee GA Thursday nights for their Acoustic Sunsets Concert Series. The event takes place on select Thursday nights August 28th-October 9th from 5pm-9pm and will include food trucks, nighttime garden tours, and live music. Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets and come on out for an evening of fun!


Karaoke Nights

October 2nd-October 30th

Location: Tooney’s Music Venue

Pick up the mic and sing along to your favorite songs every Thursday night at Tooney’s from 6pm-11pm for Karaoke! Open mic performers are welcome on the area’s biggest stage! Grab yourself a cold beer or fine wine and enjoy the night!


Live Music at Grumpy Old Men Brewing

October 2nd-October 31st

Location: Grumpy Old Men Brewery 

Stop by Grumpy Old Men Brewery Thursdays to sing along to your favorite songs for karaoke night! And drop by select Fridays & Saturdays from 3pm-6pm for great drinks, great music, and a great time. With indoor and outdoor seating available you can even bring your dog to join in the fun! Enjoy delicious fare from the ever-changing food trucks, while you listen to some fantastic local artists! Diary of a Wimpy Kid

October 3rd-October 19th 

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater

Sunny D's Children's Theater presents Diary of a Wimpy Kid! The famous children's book, turned play follows the comedic misadventures of middle schooler Greg Heffley as he navigates the social complexities of school life and documents all his experiences in his diary. Bob Seger Tribute Mainstreet

The best of Bob Seger is coming to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds with music from Steve Kelly and the Mainstreet band.  The Premier Bob Seger tribute will take place in the Anderson Music Hall on Saturday, October 4th at 7pm. Tickets are $25+ handling. 


Fall Festival

Location: The American Legion Auxiliary 

The Ellijay American Legion will be hosting a day filled with non-stop excitement and fun! Your little ones will have a blast with games and prizes like a bounce house, face painting, cake walk, apple bar, hayride, costume contest, and so much more. Admission is only $10 per child. 


Blue Ridge Marching Band Festival

October 4th 

Location: Fannin County High School Football Field

If you love the sounds of a marching band this is the event for you! Over 2,000 marching band members will be in attendance so the Fannin County football field will be filled with the sounds of music! The bands will range in size from 40 members to 150+ members. Join us on October 4th for all the fun!


Epworth Fall Festival

October 4th 

Location: Old Epworth School

This wonderful fall festival at the Old Epworth School takes place on October 4th and will be filled with craft vendors, good food, music, raffles, games, bounce houses and more. Entry is free but donations are welcome!


Great Ape Escape 5Kish

October 4th

Location: Project Chimps

Admire the adorable chimps as you race in a 5K around the property! Run or walk the 5K or just be a cheerleader! Following the race stay after and add on a tour!


5K Run & Walk

October 4th

Location: Meeks Park

Ready to run or just come out to cheer on the racers? Come on out for the Your Heart Counts 5K  and help support a great cause! Proceeds from this 5K will support our cardiac patients by providing community educational services, scales for heart failure patients, blood pressure cuffs for our cardiac OB patients, scholarships for cardiopulmonary rehab services, and so much more.


Indian Summer Festival 

October 4th-October 5th  

Location: Woody Gap School

The Indian Summer Festival is a fun fall festival that takes place every October at Georgia’s smallest public school. There will be vendors selling pottery, quilts, jewelry, homemade goods, leather crafts, furniture and so much more; as well as live music and food vendors. This year’s event takes place October 4th & 5th, don’t miss out!


John C. Campbell Fall Festival

October 4th-October 5th 

Location: John C. Campbell Folk School 

Head just over the state line to John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC for some fall fun! This year’s event will feature a wide variety of craft vendors, demonstrations, live music & dancing, delicious food, and family fun! The fun runs October 4th & 5th from 10am-5pm.

Cherry Log Festival 

October 4th-October 12th

Location: Downtown Cherry Log

The Cherry Log Fall Festival happens every year on the first two weekends in October (October 4th-12th). This year’s event will include arts and crafts, homemade goodies and treats, bluegrass, country, and gospel music and of course lots of fall fun in Downtown Cherry Log!


Live Music at Paradise Hills

October 4th-October 25th

Location: Paradise Hills

Visit the winery at the beautiful Paradise Hills hidden in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The tasting room offers Paradise Hills wine, a selection of craft beers, hard cider, and wine slushies as well as cheese and charcuterie boards, tapas, and shared platters. You can enjoy your drinks and snacks as you listen to local artists perform select Fridays 4pm – 8pm & Saturdays from 1pm – 5pm.

Twin Cities Farmers Market

Location: Downtown McCaysville

Come join us at the Twin Cities Farmers Market in Downtown McCaysville every Saturday thru October! There will be fresh produce, handmade goods, local crafts, and more. Come get some shopping done and support the local community!


Winery Tour

October 4th-October 25th

Location: Crane Creek Vineyards

Learn all about the wine making process with this behind-the-scenes experience! Take a tour of the beautiful Crane Creek Vineyards and experience what goes into making a bottle of Crane Creek wine! You can take a Winery Tour on Saturdays at 2pm, April-November. The cost is $40 per person.

Come sip on wine by the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at Chateau Meichtry. This beautiful winery located in Talking Rock, GA has both outdoor & indoor seating options, so you can enjoy the atmosphere of the winery no matter the weather. Georgia Marble Festival 

October 5th-October 6th

Location: Lee Newton Park

This year Jasper, Georgia celebrates it’s 43rd Annual Georgia Marble Festival! Join in the fun October 4th & 5th where there will be live music, a kids zone, fun runs, live demonstrations of marble & granite sculpting, delicious food, arts & crafts, a parade, and so much more! The event will take place at Lee Newton Park on Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.


Line Dancing Class

Location: Tooney’s Music Venue

Have you ever wanted to learn how to line dance? Well now’s your chance! Tooney’s now offers free, weekly line dancing classes Monday nights! The class is open to people of all ages and dance experience! Doors open at 6pm and classes start at 7pm. Come on down and show us what you can do!


Park After Dark

Enjoy a nighttime walk through the Hamilton Gardens. The trail will be lines with colorful lights & torches. And don't forget to drop by before for live music, food & wine at the Acoustic Sunset Series. 


Shared Spaces Concert

October 9th

Location: Fannin County High School

Enjoy an evening of music and charity at Fannin County High School "Shared Spaces" concert. The UNG Wind Ensemble will present an evening of historic and contemporary music for winds and percussion, all selected to match the theme of the concert "Shared Spaces." Admission is FREE and the show begins at 7pm.


Fall Festival

October 10th 

Location: First United Methodist Church Blairsville

Join in the fall fun at First United Methodist Church in Blairsville! It’ll be a day filled with baked goods, bbq, hot cocoa, hand crafted goods, a silent auction, and even a Christmas workshop to get you ready for the upcoming holiday season! The event runs all day from 9am-6pm. Admission is free! 


Sugar Creek Races

Location: Sugar Creek Raceway

Catch zooming cars at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia all summer long! Don’t miss a second of the action at this amazing off-road racetrack! Gates open at 5pm and hot laps start at 7pm.

Georgia Mountain Fall Festival

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Every fall in Hiawassee the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival comes to town! This year’s Fall Fest takes place at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds from October 11th-13th & October 17th-19th. There will be carnival rides, craft vendors, delicious food, musical performances, a cowboy show, educational demonstrations, and so much more!


Blue Ridge Ultra Race

October 11th

Location: Chattahoochee National Forest

Race through the Chattahoochee National Forest in this 50K race that consists of 20 miles of the Benton MacKaye trail, 2 miles of Hidden trails and 9 miles of Forest Service roads. This race is for the most experienced of runners and will be an exciting challenge for all. The race will also include live music and a hot meal!


Fall Arts In The Park

October 11th-October 12th 

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge

One of Blue Ridge’s most favorite events is back this fall on October 12th & 13th for Fall Arts in the Park.  Take in beautiful art, great live musical performances, and delicious food. Plus you’ll get a chance to admire the stunning and colorful fall trees that surround Downtown Blue Ridge and Veterans Memorial Park. 


Georgia Apple Festival

October 11th-October 19th 

Location: Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds

Ellijay is the Apple Capital of Georgia, so fall brings around their amazing annual Georgia Apple Festival! With over 250+ vendors, live music, demonstrations and so much more it’s sure to be a blast! Visit the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds on weekends October 11th & 12th and October 18th & 19th to have an ‘apple’lachian good time! Admission is $10 a person.


Sorghum in the Mountains

October 11th-October 19th 

Location: Meeks Park

Celebrate the Art of sorghum syrup making in Blairsville! Join in the fun at Meeks Park October 11th & 12th and October 18th & 19th. The fun starts October 11th at 9am with the kickoff parade and then there will be crafters, educational demonstrations, bluegrass music and more!


Apple Arts Festival

October 11th-October 19th

Location: Downtown Ellijay 

Happening at the same time in Ellijay is the Georgia Apple Festival’s sister festival, the Apple Arts Festival. This festival hosts a variety of food & craft vendors in Downtown Ellijay and is completely free! You can even bring along your pup for all the fun!


Blue Ridge Parade Of Homes

October 17th-October 19th 

Location: All Around Blue Ridge 

See some of the most spectacular homes in North Georgia showcased at this great annual event! Admire these incredible homes and get an idea for your dream mountain home October 17th thru October 19th.


Pawsfest

October 18th 

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge City Park

Formally known as Paws in the Park, the Humane Society of Blue Ridge will be hosting their first annual Pawsfest on Saturday, October 18th at the Blue Ridge Farmer's Market! There will be pet vendors, food trucks, a pet parade, costume contest, pet photos, blessing of the animals, live music, and so much more! Tickets are $10 a person and children 12 & under are free!


Heritage Days Festival

October 18th-October 19th 

Location: Downtown Talking Rock

Pay a visit to Talking Rock, GA for the Annual Heritage Days Festival. Arts & crafts, antiques, live music, great food, a rubber duck race, and kid-friendly fun  await you October 18th & 19th from 9am-5pm.


Gold Rush Days Festival 

October 18th-October 19th 

Location: Downtown Dahlonega

Celebrate Dahlonega’s 1828 discovery of gold at Gold Rush Days Festival, October 18th & 19th in downtown Dahlonega. Take in 200+ food and craft vendors all weekend long! This HUGE event always features amazing craftsmen, fantastic musicians, and has been voted as one of the Top 20 Events in the southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society.


Fall Festival

October 19th 

Location: Vertical Church Blairsville

Vertical Church in Blairsville will be hosting a Fall Festival open to the community! There will be live music, food trucks, face painting, games, wagon rides, and a pumpkin patch. All the fun runs from 10am-6pm. 


Chili Cook Off

October 19th

Location: Tipping Point Brewing Co.

Enjoy some Sunday fun at Tipping Point Brewing Co. for their Chili Cook Off! There will be live music, great food, and community fun; and it all supports the North Georgia Legends Baseball Team! Your $25 ticket includes unlimited chili sampling & judging rights, 1 raffle ticket for a chance to win a YETI cooler filled with local brews, 1 free drink ticket, and access to all the fun! The cookoff runs October 19th 3pm-6pm. 


Tick, Tick... Boom

October 23rd-October 31st

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater

Tick, Tick... Boom follows the story of a composer in New York trying to get his big break into theater. This compelling story of personal discovery is presented as a rock musical filled with instantly appealing melodies and a unique blend of musical theatre styles.  Shows are Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Mountain Moonshine Festival & Car Show

October 24th-October 26th 

Location: Georgia Racing Hall of Fame

If you love moonshine and cars then Dawsonville’s 58th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival & Car Show is for you! Happening at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame October 24th-26th there will be hundreds of vintage cars, live music, great food & drinks, a Moonshine Run, and over 300+ vendors! You can even meet legendary race car drivers at this awesome event that is one of the largest car shows in the Eastern U.S.!


Vogel State Park Fall Festival

October 25th

Location: Vogel State Park

Head to the stunning Vogel State Park this fall for beautiful scenery and a fun Fall Festival on October 25th! There will be food & craft vendors, hayrides, a duck race, live music, storytelling, and even trick or treating at this year's Festival!  The fun runs from 10:30am-4:30pm at Vogel State Park. A $5 daily park pass or an annual park pass is required for entry. 


Fall Market Bash

Location: Downtown Ellijay

Get ready for a fun free Fall Market in Downtown Ellijay! There will be local vendors, food truck, music and a photo prop booth!


North Mt. Zion's 3rd Annual Fall Festival

October 25th

Location: Downtown Hiawassee Square 

More fall fun awaits in Downtown Hiawassee for North Mt. Zion’s 3rd Annual Fall Festival! The event will include 40+ vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, a chili cook-off, bake sale & free kids activities. All the fun runs 10am-4pm. Admission is FREE! 


Appalachian Brew & Music Festival 

October 25th 

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds 

The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds also puts on the Appalachian Brew and Music Festival every year. This awesome event takes place October 25th and you can expect great craft brews from local breweries, delicious food from local vendors, and lots of Americana and Bluegrass music! You won’t want to miss these great events at the Fairgrounds!


Annual Bon Voyage Halloween Party 

October 25th

Location: Boat Dock Bar & Grill

Boat Dock Bar & Grill at Lake Blue Ridge Marina may be closing for the season, but they’re going out with a bang! Come on out October 25th for Boat Dock Bar & Grill’s Annual Bon Voyage Halloween Party. Wear your best costumes and drop by for some fun 11am-9pm!


Wicked Harvest Costume Party

October 25th 

Location: Cress Creeks Farm

Enjoy a spooky night of fun at Cress Creeks Farm! Dress in your Halloween best and enjoy light hordoerves, desserts and creepy potions at our punch bar, grab a flashlight and brave the maze, only for those who dare! plus music from DJ Quinn! 


Chimp or Treat 

October 25th-October 26th

Location: Project Chimps

Dress up and head to Project Chimps October 25th & 26th for “Chimp or Treat”. Not only will kids get a goodie bag full of treats but they’ll also get a close-up look of the chimpanzees in their habitat.

2025 Community Quilt and Fiber Arts Exhibition 

October 25th-October 31st 

Location: Blue Ridge Arts Association

The Community Quilt and Fiber Arts Exhibition will be on display at the Art Center from October 25th-November 9th. This exhibition presents a stunning collection of quilts and fiber art crafted by both local and regional artists. Visitors can explore a diverse array of styles, including whole-cloth quilts, intricate crazy quilts, and memory quilts. Join us for the opening reception on October 25th at 5pm.


Halloween Concert

October 26th

Location: Fannin County High School

The Tri-State Community Band and area Middle School Band Students will be performing a Halloween Concert at Fannin County High School at 6pm on Sunday, October 26th. There will be music from Lord of the Rings, Phantom of the Opera, Old Stomping Grounds, Thriller, Funeral March of a Marionette, and so much more! Kids in costume are welcome and treats are available for all!  


Trunk or Treat

October 29th 

Location: House of Prayer Blairsville

Kick off the Halloween festivities early with Trunk or Treat at House of Prayer in Blairsville. There will be food, candy, and hayrides for the whole family to enjoy! Come on down! 


Halloween at the Fairgrounds 

October 30th- October 31st 

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds 

Hiawassee has it’s own Halloween fun at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds on October 30th & 31st. There will be a haunted village set up in the Pioneer Village on Thursday & Friday night, and trick or treating fun on Halloween night! It’s going to be a spooktacular week at the Fairgrounds! 


Annual Trunk or Treat & Hayride

Location: Blue Ridge United Methodist Church 

Stop by Blue Ridge United Methodist Church on Halloween for Trunk or Treat fun! There will be candy for the kids, live music, free smores & hot chocolate, and hayrides. 


Halloween Safe Zone Trick or Treat 

October 31st 

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge 

More Halloween fun awaits the kiddos with trick treating in Downtown Blue Ridge on Halloween night! Not only will there be lots of candy but there will also be a costume contest and a pet costume contest for cats & dogs! The fun starts at 4pm! 


Halloween Safety Zone in McCaysville/Copperhill 

October 31st 

Location: Downtown McCaysville, Ga & Copperhill, TN

Bring the kiddos to enjoy some trick or treating in the Twin Cities from the local merchants! The event is FREE and open to all children. The Halloween fun starts at 6pm!


Blairsville Boo Bash

October 31st 

Location: Meeks Park 

Come on out to Meeks Park on Halloween for candy handouts from local businesses! Kids can trick or treat in this fun, safe environment from 4pm-7pm!
