CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AROUND THE MOUNTAINS

Every family has many Christmas traditions that they enjoy preserving. For this writer, one of my family’s favorite things to do is to go drive around and see all the Christmas lights! However, when you’re not from around here, you wouldn’t even know where to begin to look for lights to enjoy. Well, we tried to make it easy for you and stalked as many of our friends pages to locate all the  Christmas light displays that you HAVE to go check out!

Each community offers a brief directions, but click on the town name to access a Google map to help you find your way! If you’re a local reading this and know of other places we’re missing please drop a comment or send us a Facebook or Instagram message. Merry Christmas!

Downtown Blue Ridge- All season long Downtown Blue Ridge will be filled with Christmas lights and holiday cheer! Admire the town square Christmas tree, take in the holiday storefronts, ride the Holiday Express, and enjoy a festive snack or beverage in one our local restaurants. 

Escape to Blue Ridge offices- We are decked out for the season! Stop by and take a selfie with our Christmas Tree & pick up an activity packet for the kids and enjoy the lights by night!


Local Decorated Homes & Neighborhoods: 

-Spur 60, Between Mineral Bluff and NC State line. Drive through Winter Wonderland! Santa on certain nights.

-The Penlands, Hwy 75, just past the North Carolina/Georgia state line.

-Williams’, Forge Mill Road off Hwy 515 across from Cucina Rustica. Santa on certain nights.

Downtown Blairsville- Come admire the beautiful holiday decor in Downtown Blairsville all season long! And on December 13th you can even parktake in Blairsville Christmas Cookie Crawl! Come see what's in store for you in Blairsville this holiday season!

Union County Community Center- Come walk through a winter wonderland of stunning trees at Union County Community Center's annual Tour of Trees! The event will feature over 50 beautifully decorated trees & wreaths from local businesses. There will also be a gingerbread village and lots of holiday fun! Tour of Trees runs Tuesdays-Saturdays from 7:30am-8pm and Sundays & Mondays 7:30am-5pm, all month long!

-7 M Family Farm- A family owned farm with Christmas trees for sale and a beautiful light display! 596 Crump Creek Rd, Blairsville, GA

-Cook Street, 289 Cook St, Blairsville, GA (Special visits from Santa on Fridays & Saturdays)

-Forest Drive, 195 Forest Dr, Blairsville, GA

-Stonehenge Assisted Living, Hwy 129 North towards Murphy, about 7 miles north of Hwy 76/129 intersection. Note: Nativity Scene

-The Browns, Take Old Blue Ridge Highway out past Mulkey Gap. Right on Ed King Road. Just before the solar panel field. Note: Santa’s Mailbox – leave a letter to Santa and receive a reply!

-The Jones, Take Blue Ridge Hwy, then a left on Mulkey Gap, right on Jones Rd.


Mountain Country Christmas in Lights

Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds- Come experience Mountain Country Christmas in Lights at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds every Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from November 27th-December 6th and open EVERY night from December 11th-24th! Here you will enjoy beautiful light displays and entertainment along with food, music, arts & crafts, hot chocolate, s'mores, camel & pony rides, magic shows, and Santa himself. Admission is $9 per person and children 12 and under are FREE! 


Local Decorated Homes & Neighborhoods: 

-Bugscuffle Road, Through the town of Hiawassee, but before the School. See Uhaul & Parker Oil, next road on left is Bugscuffle. On Hwy 76, just west of Towns County School.

-Scataway Road, About 5 minutes past the Towns County School, see sign for Mount Zion Church on left and follow the red glow. Off of Hwy 76, 5 minutes east of town. See Santa on certain nights. As seen on the Great Christmas Light Fight! 

-Panter House, Gumlog Rd off of Hwy 66 in Young Harris. On the Towns County side of Gumlog.

Ellijay Lions Club- Take in the holiday lights and the joy of the season at Holiday Lights of Ellijay! The Ellijay Lions Club will be decked out with millions of dazzling, towering trees and a maze made of lights, Santa, music, concessions, and seasonal vendors. Admission is $10 per adult and children 12 & under are free!

Downtown Ellijay- And be sure to pay a visit to Downtown Ellijay for more festive fun! See all the beautiful lights and holiday displays; and enjoy Ellijay's Merry Mountain Town event now through December 21st. Pick up a map of Downtown Ellijay from the Welcome Center, and then browse the local shops & homes and their festive storefronts & displays. Vote on your favorites and the winners of Merry Mountain Town will be announced on December 22nd.

A Robbins Family Christmas- Located just outside of Ellijay in Jasper, GA A Robbins Family Christmas offers walkthrough Christmas lights, a maze, and more! Find them at 8795 Hwy 53 East, Jasper, GA.

-Gunstock Creek and Banjo Mountain off Hwy 282.

-Neighborhoods off Chatsworth Hwy (Hwy 515). 



Admire the Riverwalk shops and the famous steel bridge lit up with twinkling lights that reflect off the beautiful Toccoa River all season long! And while you're in the Copper Basin, vote for your favorite downtown tree at Burra Burra and find all the elves around town for a free cookie from Happy Bear Ice Cream. 

Plus on December 13th from 12pm-5pm come on down  to the Copper Basin for a Copper Country Christmas! There will be arts & crafts, live music, shopping, pictures with Santa and more!


Downtown Murphy- Experience the holiday season in Downtown Murphy, NC with Murphy Mountain Christmas. Enjoy holiday decor, photos with Santa, selfie scavenger hunts, Christmas shopping sales, and more all season long! 

Andrews, NC- Enjoy a Gingerbread Christmas Parade in Andrews, NC on December 13th! There will be dozens of floats, cars, trucks, and holiday displays to admire all night long. The parade kicks off at 6:15pm at IOI and ends at West end plaza.
