July Events 2024

Summer fun is in full swing in the North Georgia Mountains and boy do we have quite the lineup of events for you! July kicks off with 4th of July events like firework shows and parades, then later in the month we’ll have the Butternut Creek Art Festival, and to end the month we have the Mountain Music & Moonshine Festival. If you’re ready for a summer like no other, then head on over to Blue Ridge and experience all these exciting mountain events.


July 1st-July 6th

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association

Admire beautiful handmade quilts and celebrate our mountain heritage at the Art Center’s Community Quilt & Fiber Arts Exhibit. The gallery will be covered in both traditional and non-traditional quilts as well as a wide array of fiber arts. The exhibit runs from May 24th-July 6th.


July 1st-July 6th

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association

Celebrate World Collage Day at the Art Center from May 4th-July 6th with a unique exhibition on collage featuring a diverse array of mixed media compositions from talented artists. Enjoy the artist reception at 5pm on June 1st.


July 1st-July 26th

Location: Cherry Log, GA

Explore the beauty of North Georgia on a guided hiking tour with the Benton MacKaye Trail Association. They offer 2-4 hikes a month varying in difficulty from easy, leisurely hikes to moderately difficult hikes.

Come on out to the Art Center to admire Curtis Whitwam’s beautiful watercolor paintings on display in the gallery through July 27th. Enjoy the artist reception at 5pm on June 1st.

Location: Tooney’s Music Venue

Have you ever wanted to learn how to line dance? Well now’s your chance! Tooney’s now offers free, weekly line dancing classes Monday nights! The class is open to people of all ages and dance experience! Doors open at 6pm and classes start at 7pm. Come on down and show us what you can do!

Location: The Folk Collaborative

Picnic beneath the apple trees all through spring and summer at Folk Collaborative! Bring your closest friends and family to relax under the trees. The Old Timer’s Parade has been a Blue Ridge tradition since the 1950’s. So come downtown from 10am-11am in your best period attire, bring your antique cars and celebrate the 4th of July!

Location: Lake Blue Ridge Dam

Join us at Lake Blue Ridge for the annual fireworks show! The fireworks start at 9:30pm and last till about 10:00pm. The best places to view the show are from the Morganton Point Recreation Area, from a boat in Lake Blue Ridge near the Lake Blue Ridge Dam, from the Lake Blue Ridge Marina, or from the Lake Blue Ridge Dam. It’s sure to be a great and festive night!


July 4th

Location: Lake Chatuge; Starting Point - Sunset Bay Cove (Behind Young Harris Watersports)

Come out for the 4th of July Lake Chatuge Boat Parade in Hiawassee! Interested in participating? All boats line up in the Sunset Bay Cove for the parade beginning at 10:30am. The boats will parade past the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds where the judges will be positioned. Come on by and find a good spot to watch the patriotic boats go by!


July 4th

Location: Vogel State Park

Start your 4th of July celebrations early with fun and games for the whole family! The Festivities kick off at 8am with a Flag Raising Ceremony and then a bicycle parade, pedal boat race, sandcastle competition, watermelon eating contest, an egg toss, and so much more to follow! Then fun goes from 8am-4pm at Vogel State Park!


July 4th

Location: The Sunset Pavilion at Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa

Have a nice 4th of July buffet in Brasstown Valley’s dining room from 5pm-9pm. You’ll find delicious entrees and sides like Shrimp Cocktails, Sauteed Summer Squash, Four Cheese Marconi, Flat Iron Steak, and so much more! Or from 6:30pm-9:30pm come on out to the Sunset Pavilion for amazing food, family friendly activities, lawn games, a pie eating contest, and so much more! You’ll also have a front row seat for Brasstown Valley’s amazing fireworks display. Reservations needed! Get ready for some patriotic family fun at Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa!

Head over to Meeks Park in Blairsville for even more fireworks, shooting off from 9:30pm-10pm! But come early starting at 7:30pm for food trucks, bounce houses, kickball, cornhole, and more. Come on out for a fun night!

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Head over to Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee for great music and fireworks! Starting at 3pm there will be craft vendors, food trucks, kids activities, cornhole, a bounce house, and much more! Then the Vintage Vixens will perform from 6:30pm-9pm and the firework show will start at 9:45pm. It’s a family friendly event and there’s plenty of room for everyone!

Location: Grumpy Old Men Brewing

Stop by Grumpy Old Men Brewery Thursdays to sing along to your favorite songs for karaoke night! And drop by select Fridays & Saturdays from 3pm-6pm for great drinks, great music, and a great time. With indoor and outdoor seating available you can even bring your dog to join in the fun! Enjoy delicious fare from the ever-changing food trucks, while you listen to some fantastic local artists! And on Monday nights come on out for SINGO and Thursday nights is Karaoke!

Every Thursday night at 6:00pm, May-September visit Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville, GA for live music and picnicking by the Toccoa River. Picnic tables are available but feel free to bring a picnic blanket and lawn chair as well. Admission is free so bring the whole family to enjoy!

Head on over to the Lake Nottely Marina in Blairsville for their annual Independence Day Boat Parade. Have a boat? Join in the lineup starting at 10:30am. There’s no charge to enter your boat and you may decorate it however you’d like! Then at 11:30am the boats will pass by and all can enjoy in the beautiful parade!

Celebrate the Allman Bros and their beloved music with a performance from TRIBUTE, a powerful eight-piece group that faithfully recreates the music of one of the finest bands of all time. Each August they leave their families, husbands, and jobs to get together for a girl’s weekend at the Outer Banks, they’ve been doing this for over 30 years! Laugh along as the friends struggle through their problems with men, sex, kids, and more in this wonderful comedy all about friendship! Catch Blue Ridge Community Theater’s production of The Sweet Delilah Swim Club! Shows are Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. This fun Western themed party at Staurolite Barn will benefit the Humane Society of Blue Ridge! Guests should dress in their Western best and get ready to dance their boots off to the Loose Shoes Band! There will also be country grub, drinks, real life cowboys, a live auction, and more! Tickets are $100 per person.

Enjoy a fun paint class and a glass of wine at Paradise Hill’s Sip, Paint, & Create class. This private class will include all your supplies and a free glass of wine. Then leave with your new masterpiece! Tickets are $45 a person.

Location: Union County Fine Arts Center

Head to the charming town of Blairsville for a gospel music concert at the Union County Fine Arts Center at 6:30pm on Friday, July 19th. You can expect great gospel tunes from artists like, Kingsmen, Greater Vision, Jonathan Wilburn, Lauren Talley, Jeff Tolbert, and Primitive Road. General admission is $25 and VIP is $85.

Location: Meeks Park

The Mountain Life Team and KW Elevate will be hosting a movie night in Meeks Park! This free movie event will show the Super Mario Movie. Bring your blankets and chairs out for a great night of entertainment at the park!


July 20th  

Location: Riverwalk Shops

Walk the Line 5K is America’s only 5K that crosses two states! Starting at 6:30pm you’ll run through the charming twin cities of Copperhill, TN and McCaysville, GA, pass by the Toccoa River, and cross the steel bridge! Before and after the run stay for food, drinks, and music at the Riverwalk Shops. 


July 20th

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and the Hiawassee DDA are hosting a fundraiser for The Paris Business Center Restoration in Downtown Hiawassee. The event will include food & drinks, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and a concert from Electric Avenue! Tickets are $30 a person and VIP Tables are $450.


July 20th-July 21st  

Location: Meeks Park

This two-day art festival is one of the finest in the Southeast! You’ll see craftsmen specializing in basketry, fine art, fabric art, decorative painting, photography, pottery, and so much more! The event runs Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm & admission is free!


July 26th

Location: Dairy Queen / DQ Grill & Chill, Blue Ridge

Admire a selection of classic cars at this free event happening on the 4th Friday of every thru September at 6pm! Bring your own classic car to register and get $4 off Dairy Queen certificate when you register! Ice cream, classic cars, and a good time!


July 26th-July 28th  

Location: Historic Blairsville, GA Downtown Square

It’s music and moonshine time! On Friday Grandaddy Mimm’s will be hosting the kickoff party and annual race! Then on Saturday and Sunday the big event kicks off with live music in & around the square, plenty of moonshine from Blairsville's own Grandaddy Mimm's Distilling Co., local vendors, regional artists, moonshine history, and great food! It’s going to be an awesome weekend on the square!


July 27th

Location: The Tavern at Old Toccoa Farm

The Tavern at Old Toccoa Farm is hosting another wonderful, themed dinner! This time there will be seafood from across America’s coasts including western, eastern, and southern coast styles. There will also be delicious wine & beer options that pair perfectly with each dish. And on top of good food & drinks there will be live music from The David-LaDow Jazz Duo! The fun goes July 27th from 5pm-8pm!


July 27th

Location: The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Get ready for family friendly fun at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds! Starting at 4pm on July 27th there will be craft vendors, food trucks, live music, kids activities, and much more at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Then at 9:45pm you’ll be treated to a one-of-a-kind laser light show! Tickets are $10 a person and children 12 & under are free!


July 27th

Location: Paradise Hills, Cabins-Spa-Winery

Get ready for a night of laughs at the Winery Comedy Night! Live professional stand-up comics will make you laugh all night long! Grab a glass of wine or a beer and let the laughter flow! Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 8pm!
