Picnic in the Apple Orchard
July 1st – July 31st
Location: Deep Roots Orchard

Bourbon, BBQ, & Blues

Location: Fightingtown Tavern

If you love a great glass of bourbon, a plate full of barbecue and awesome music then Fightingtown Tavern has just what you need! From 5pm – 9pm enjoy bourbon tastings of 8 different, delicious bourbons. And enjoy some great BBQ and Blues music. It’s $50 per person and all the proceeds go to Freedom for Fido. Riverwalk Run Club
July 1^st – July 29^th
Location: Riverwalk

Partake in a fun run every Thursday night at 6pm from now till July 29th. You’ll leave from the Burra Burra, and the 3.1 mile run will take you by the Toccoa river and through town. You’ll get to run through 2 states and cross the famous steel bridge! After the run stay for drinks at the Burra Burra overlooking the Toccoa River. Don’t walk, RUN to this great event!

Pickin’ In The Park

Every Thursday night at 6:00pm, May-September visit Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville, GA for live music and picnicking by the Toccoa River. Picnic tables are available but feel free to bring a picnic blanket and lawn chair as well. Admission is free so bring the whole family to enjoy!

Walk the Line 5K

Walk the Line 5K is America’s only 5K that crosses two states! Starting at 6:30pm you’ll run through the charming twin cities of Copperhill,TN and McCaysville, GA, pass by the Toccoa River, and cross the steel bridge! Before and after the run stay for food, drinks, and music at the Riverwalk Shops. The stick around for the Copper Basin fireworks later that night!

Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is offering a Firework Special train. The train will depart from Blue Ridge at 7:00pm and make it’s way to the twin cities of Copperhill,TN and McCaysville, GA for a fireworks display. Sit outside the train and watch the beautiful fireworks light up the night sky. After the show hop back on the train and return to Blue Ridge by 11pm. You won’t want to miss out on this special train event.

These are the times when things start falling from the trees, unless you pick them first! That especially applies to apples, plums, and persimmons (as sometimes the fun is in the pickin’). As for the leaves, just let them fall. They’re pretty, and crunchy, and they add to the overall ambiance of this wonderful season!

It’s that time of year when fall colors lead to a true change toward cooler temps. Indian Summer is over, and now you can haul out those long pants, hiking boots, and sweaters for the cooler times. It’s also time for art shows, visits to vineyards, gathering with friends & family, honoring our Veterans, and fishing for autumn trout, just to name a few.

Farm to Trail – 30k and 11k Trail Run

The distances sound daunting, 30k is no 10 and 11k is no 5 – but when you consider that this run will be managed for a maximum of 250 participants and the terrain will be all dirt trails through dense forest, you quickly understand that this is not your typical run around the block. The beauty of this part of Georgia, especially in the National Forest, and especially at this time of year, is breathtaking. Register soon – space is limited.

Veterans Day Parade and Memorial Service

Veterans Day is a solemn occasion, when we recognize those who sacrificed to keep America safe and secure, but somehow, with brass bands, flags waving, color guards leading a parade, and burgers on the grill, it’s also a cause for celebrating the strength of a nation! Thanks to those who have given so much. Celebrate and commemorate Veterans Day in Downtown Blue Ridge, but save the solemn for Memorial Park.

Blue Friday & Light Up Blue Ridge!

Black Friday, the all-out dash for discounts, just got softened a bit by Blue Ridge’s very appropriate “Blue Friday”, with special emphasis on fun, a parade, community caroling, Santa’s arrival, and the lighting of a 27-foot tall tree!
