July Events 2022



Summer is the season for live music, outdoor events, and family fun vacations! July in Blue Ridge will provide all that and more! And at the start of the month enjoy festivals all over North Georgia celebrating America’s birthday. See what’s in store for July 2022 when you Escape to Blue Ridge:

Annual Miner’s Homecoming Celebration 2022
July 1st – July 2nd
Location: Ducktown Basin Museum Hoist House

Ducktown, TN has a full weekend of family fun activities at the 47th Annual Miner’s Homecoming Celebration! On Friday night you can expect live gospel music and kids’ activities. And on Saturday enjoy a pancake breakfast, a patriotic parade, a soup bean dinner, a beauty pageant, a fun rubber duck race, and a firework show that night. Come on out for all the fun!

Wild West Show & Rodeo on the River
July 1st – July 2nd
Location: On the River at the old baseball field on West Tennessee Avenue in Copperhill, TN

Ready for a rodeo!? Come on out for Copperhill’s 1st Annual Wild West Show & Rodeo! There will be lots of fun rodeo events and food vendors at this awesome event! Tickets are $15 per person and children 8 & under are free.

Atlanta Braves World Championship Trophy Tour

Celebrate the Atlanta Braves world championship win by taking photos with the Braves World Series Trophy at the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway! It will be on display from 5pm – 8pm. Get your tickets for the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway special fireworks special train ride now to see the McCaysville firework show after taking your photo with the Braves trophy.

Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is offering a Firework Special train. The train will depart from Blue Ridge at 7pm and make its way to the twin cities of Copperhill, TN and McCaysville, GA for a fireworks display. Sit outside the train and watch the beautiful fireworks light up the night sky. After the show hop back on the train and return to Blue Ridge by 11pm. You won’t want to miss out on this special train event.

Copper Basin Fireworks
July 2nd 
Location: Downtown McCaysville & Copperhill

Food, fun, and fireworks await you at the Copper Basin Fireworks show. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole family to join in the fun! The fireworks start at promptly 9:30pm and go till around 10:30pm. You can see the fireworks from anywhere downtown. Come on out for a special night to celebrate America’s birthday!

4th of July at the Ridges

The Ridges Resort on the shore of Lake Chatuge in beautiful Hiawassee is hosting free patriotic family  events all weekend long! On Saturday kids can partake in a Patriotic Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest from 11:30am – 1pm then a movie night at 8pm for a family themed patriotic movie with free popcorn. On Sunday there will be a cardboard boat building contest for the kiddos at 11:30am and fireworks over the lake that night! Need dinner before the big show? The Ridges Resort is also hosting a 4th of July Lakeside Cookout at the lakeside pavilion with an all you can eat buffet for $27.95 per person, reservations needed! Kids and adults will have a great weekend by the lake!

4th of July Lake Chatuge Boat Parade

Come out for the 4th of July Lake Chatuge Boat Parade in Hiawassee! Interested in participating? All boats line up in the Sunset Bay Cove for the parade beginning at 10:30am and all boats must be pre-registered by 9am, July 1st to be considered for prizes. The boats will parade past the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds where the judges will be positioned. Come on by and find a good spot to watch the patriotic boats go by! 

Lake Nottely Boat Parade

Head on over to the Lake Nottely Marina in Blairsville for their annual Independence Day Boat Parade. Have a boat? Join in the lineup starting at 10:30am. There’s no charge to enter your boat and you may decorate it however you’d like! Then at 11:30am the boats will pass by and all can enjoy in the beautiful parade!

And Monday nights Copperhill Brewery in Ducktown hosts a cornhole tournament, registration starts at 5pm and game starts at 6pm. Georgia Mountain Freedom Cornhole Tournament

All ages and skill levels welcome to sign up! There will also be food vendors, live music, a raffle, and arts & craft vendors! To enter Singles are $10, Doubles are $20, and Juniors are $5.

Old Timer’s Parade

The Old Timer’s Parade has been a Blue Ridge tradition since the 1950’s. So come downtown from 10am – 12pm in your best period attire, bring your antique cars and celebrate the 4th of July!

Lake Blue Ridge Fireworks

Join us at Lake Blue Ridge for the annual fireworks show! The fireworks start at 9:30pm and last till about 10:30pm. The best places to view the show are from the Morganton Point Recreation Area, from a boat in Lake Blue Ridge near the Lake Blue Ridge Dam, from the Lake Blue Ridge Marina, or from the Lake Blue Ridge Dam. It’s sure to be a great and festive night! 

Fireworks at Meeks Park

Head over to Meeks Park in Blairsville for even more fireworks, shooting off from 9:30pm – 10pm! But come early starting at 7:30pm for fair food, bounce houses, face painting, a raffle and more. Come on out for a fun night!

Head over to Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee for great music and fireworks! The Vintage Vixens will be performing from 6pm – 8pm and the firework show will start at 9:45pm. It’s a family friendly event and there’s plenty of room for everyone!

Vogel State Park’s 4th of July Celebration

Start your 4th of July celebrations early with a 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk in Vogel State Park! The race kicks off at the group shelter at 7:30am. Then stick around after the race for Vogel State Park’s 4th of July Celebration!

From 6:30pm – 9:30pm come on out to the Sunset Pavilion for amazing food, family friendly activities, lawn games, a pie eating contest, and so much more! The Game’s Afoot

The play follows Broadway’s Sherlock Holmes actor ‘William Gillette’ and his costars celebrating Christmas together in his Connecticut Castle. But one of his guests is unfortunately stabbed to death and the Christmas fun quickly comes to an end as things turn dangerous. What will happen to William and the rest of his guests? Find out in Blue Ridge Community Theater’s production of ‘The Game’s Afoot happening Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. The show runs July 7th – July 24th, call the box office at 706-632-9191 for tickets!

Thursday Fun Runs at the Riverwalk

Partake in a fun run every Thursday night at 5:30pm! You’ll leave from the Burra Burra, and the 3.1 mile run will take you by the Toccoa river and through town. You’ll get to run through 2 states and cross the famous steel bridge! After the run stay for drinks at the Burra Burra overlooking the Toccoa River. Don’t walk, RUN to this great event!

Pickin’ In The Park

Every Thursday night at 6pm, May – September visit Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville, GA for live music and picnicking by the Toccoa River. Picnic tables are available but feel free to bring a picnic blanket and lawn chair as well. Admission is free so bring the whole family to enjoy!

Acoustic Sunsets at Hamilton Gardens

Butternut Creek Art Festival

This two day art festival is one of the finest in the Southeast! You’ll see craftsmen specializing in basketry, fine art, fabric art, decorative painting, photography, pottery, and so much more! The event runs Saturday from 10am – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm & admission is free! 

Sweet Summertime Downtown Outdoor Market
July 16th
Location: Downtown Blairsville

Come on out for the 2nd Annual Sweet Summertime Outdoor Market right off the town square in Blairsville. There will be art demonstrations, kids activities, craft vendors, summer treats, and the Blairsville Cruiser Show happening at 3pm. The event is free for all and goes from 10am – 4pm. 

Georgia Mountain Classics Cruise Ins
July 22nd

Admire a selection of classic cars at this free event happening on the 4th Friday of every month March thru September at 6pm! Bring your own classic car to register and get $4 off Dairy Queen certificate when you register! Ice cream, classic cars, and a good time!

Saturday Morning Bird Walk

Songs of America – Oral Moses
July 24th

Come see talented bass-baritone singer Oral Moses perform at 5pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He regularly tours the U.S. and Europe and specializes on a wide variety of Negro Spirituals and Art Song repertoire by African-American composers.

The Mountain Music & Moonshine Festival
July 29th-July 31st 
Location: Historic Blairsville, GA Downtown Square

It’s music and moonshine time! On Friday at 7pm in the old courthouse on the square Tommy Townsend will be holding a free concert! Then all day Saturday & Sunday there will live music in & around the square, plenty of moonshine from Blairsville’s own Grandaddy Mimm’s Distilling Co., local vendors, regional artists, moonshine history, and great food! It’s going to be an awesome weekend on the square!
