Union County Recreation Department includes Poteete Creek Campground with 59 sites for campers and tents and is open April 1 thru October 15th. Enjoy a refreshing mountain ride that starts at the intersection of US 76 and Hwy 5 in Blue Ridge Georgia on your east toward Blairsville, Georgia. The ride is nearly 37 miles and should take around 1.5 to 2 hours round trip. Along the way you'll enjoy some twisties after you turn on Weaver Creed Road off of Aska Road. You'll travel down the winding Snake Nation Road (name prior to the Trail of Tears) as you approach Deep Gap (over 2,200 feet), which is close to where the Appalachian Trail begins. Further down you'll approach Highway 60 to return back to Blue Ridge or take a right toward Suches and Dahlonega for more mountain curves and incredible scenery.

One of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern U.S., Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep. Visitors can hike rim trails to several overlooks, or they can obtain a permit to hike to the gorge floor (100 per day, not available during water releases). A suspension bridge sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom, providing spectacular views of the river and waterfalls. Tightrope walkers have twice crossed the gorge, and visitors can still see towers used by Karl Wallenda. A paved path follows an on old railroad bed, perfect for strollers and bicycles, while mountain bikers can test their skills on a challenging 10 mile trail.
